Teotihuacan pyramids (July 19)

On my 4-month birthday, we visited the pyramids north of Mexico City. As you can see here, I had my doubts about this excursion, given how hot it was expected to get.

First we hiked up the Pyramid of the Moon, which was not too bad. The view from the top (not the top of the pyramid, but as far up as they would let you climb) was quite striking, as you could see all of the Avenue of the Dead as well as the Pyramid of the Sun (this picture shows the latter, but not the former).

While an umbrella helped keep the sun off me, it was of little help in getting me up the Pyramid of the Sun. Here you see how steep a climb that was.

Finally, here we are at the top. The climb was so exhausting, I took a nap once we reached the top.

This day convinced me never to venture far from air conditioning again in the summer!
