Cashel

After Limerick we visited the Rock of Cashel, a hill with a very large ruined cathedral on it. Supposedly St. Patrick converted the King of Munster here. A large cross from the 12th century commemorates 800 years since his visit (this is a copy; we saw the original inside the museum).

Here we are outside the cathedral. The round tower on the right is the oldest part of the church, about 900 years old!

And here we are "inside". Even without the roof (removed by the local archbishop in 1749), it is an impressive building.
