Giant redwoods (Dec. 27)

The afternoon after we toured the Elkhorn Slough by boat, we enjoyed another nature outing: Big Basin Redwoods State Park. The trees were enormous!!

Some had fallen over. They were much taller than me, and so wide that we could easily walk on them.

Several of the trees were hollow, with so much space that we could all fit in there!

Rose found a little perch on a knot near the bottom of one tree.

This tree was empty all the way up — you can see the sky through a hole at the top!

Here you can see just how far the trees towered over us!
